After nearly 30 years at natural home and personal care brand Thymes, co-founder Stephanie Shopa has announced her retirement as CEO. Her responsibilities will be assumed by newly appointed CEO Anne Sempowski Ward. Stephanie remains an equity shareholder/owner in the company and will continue to hold a seat on the Thymes Board.
According to the company, as successor to one of Thymes’ founders, Sempowski Ward is committed to growing the company by reinforcing Thymes’ status as a leader in the specialty bath, body and home fragrance categories and building on the brand’s remarkable successes.With a reputation for developing innovative business strategies and streamlined operating plans, she has played a key role in the growth of highly recognizable brands.
Sempowski Ward began her career at Procter & Gamble, where she led several of P&G’s existing brands and categories including baby care, feminine care, beauty and home care and also managed the integration of Clairol Herbal Essences following the company’s acquisition. Among her many accomplishments in the business world, She is credited with spearheading the turnaround of Fashion Fair Cosmetics, as well as creating and cultivating new consumer markets in the Beauty Care category at P&G and during her time at Coca-Cola.
Most recently, she led her own consulting firm, The Forward Group, where she guided clients on growth strategies in a number of diverse categories including consumer products, information technology, media, and the non-profit sector. Her diverse experience leading and growing successful brands and companies makes her an ideal steward for Thymes, the company said.
