The Consumer Specialty Products Association (CSPA) is seeking comments on its recently drafted guidance document entitled “Biological Drain Maintenance Products Efficiency Testing Protocol.”
The protocol is a laboratory test for evaluating the efficiency of biological drain maintenance products that use microbiological metabolism to remove fats, oils and greases (FOG) through bio-degradation. These products would be used in institutional settings such as schools, hospitals, restaurants, and other businesses to clear drains and traps. The products might also be used in the maintenance of sewer treatment plants. The testing protocol covers the techniques to simulate microbiological degradation of FOG in an appropriate environment, and for the quantification of the FOG after microbiological treatment.
Reviewers will have from Nov. 1 to Nov. 30, 2016 to submit their comments on the testing protocol to CSPA. For questions or to request a copy of the guidance documents for review, please contact CSPA’s Cleaning Products Division Staff Executive Tim Brown at tbrown@cspa.org.
The finalized guidance document will be available for purchase via the CSPA website. In addition, once approved, the guidance document will be included in the CSPA’s Cleaning Products Compendium.
