Charkit and Sanat Products Ltd., India, have strengthened their joint business within the herbal extracts segment, expanding a relationship that began two years ago, according to Jay Lang, executive vice president of Charkit Chemical Company. The move was effective Sept. 1, 2017.
“We anticipate that we will bolster our joint business though an enhanced botanicals portfolio and complementary competencies,” explained Lang.
Lang pointed out that Sanat’s recent acquisition of Hindustan Herbals Ltd. is an example of Sanat’s desire to enhance their natural product portfolio.
“They are determined to be recognized as the premier manufacturer of natural ingredients in India,” he added.
Lang praised Sanat’s business acumen and its social responsibility platform.
Citing its environmental concerns, he stated, “Sanat’s responsible corporate practices are evident in their establishment of solar generated power to nourish their farms. Sanat has been an ideal partner. Our association will go a long way in boosting new business opportunities for our existing and prospective clients.”
According to Lang, “Charkit’s robust market presence and knowledgeable sales force provide the essential marketing expertise to succeed in the highly competitive marketplace, that is further challenged by intensified regulatory oversight of the nutritional and dietary supplement industry. A higher level of oversight is impacting herbal extracts and botanical powders through more intense scrutiny, largely due to the inconsistencies in testing for identity. Sanat brings added value through its focus on the standardized test methods and the numerous clinical studies that they routinely conduct.”
According to Amit Sharma, business head of Sanat Products Limited, the agreement comes at the right time and he foresees a rapid sales upswing.
"Our proprietary technology and robust R&D along with our diverse ingredient portfolio benefit from Charkit’s strong US presence," said Sharma. "We recognize Charkit as an industry powerhouse that will bring us long-term advantages.”
