P&G sought to explore this disconnect by commissioning a new survey to be released alongside a documentary that follows the lives of three women around the world, capturing the transformational impact access to clean water has on them and their families.
Survey findings include:
- While most consumers are concerned about the safety of their own drinking water, most do not know that approximately 663 million people worldwide lack access to clean drinking water.
- One-in-four underestimate the number of people who die each year because of waterborne illnesses.
- Americans are largely unaware of the progress that has been made since 2000 to address the global water crisis, with nearly 70 percent of respondents believing the crisis has stayed the same or become worse and almost one-in-four saying that the problem has become much worse.
