Functionality Group, UK-based makers of Scentered aromatherapy-based mindfulness products, appointed Sherry Orel as president and CEO. She will assume the position from founder and serial entrepreneur Lara Morgan, who assumes the role of chairman of the board.
Orel will be responsible for managing all activities for the company, including development and implementation of the global strategy to drive sales acceleration, distribution channel expansion and activation, consumer marketing, operations, R&D and manufacturing. She will leverage the current UK-based infrastructure and expand teams in key markets, including existing operations in New York and Chicago.
“Scentered is the only brand positioned at the crossroads of beauty, aromatherapy and the scientific link between scent, memory and habit development,” said Sherry Orel. “Scentered will become the go-to tool for self-improvement minded people who want to set and achieve goals, elevate their moods and direct their focus.”
Orel has 30 years of experience overseeing businesses delivering over $1.5B in revenue. Most recently she acted as CEO of Brand Connections, a New York-based marketing services agency, where she orchestrated the sale from private equity company Veronis Suhler Stevenson to Advantage Solutions, a leading North American sales and marketing agency. Previously she served as EVP for the marketing services division of Havas, held senior positions at News America Marketing and has served on advisory boards including EBY, the Childhood Domestic Violence Association and BrandShop. She was also chairman of the Product Sampling Council, a division of the ANA.
“I am so pleased to have Sherry join our organization, bringing both her experience and a true passion to our brand. Her long track record of scaling successful and profitable business with a focus on the development of mindful company cultures aligns well with our vision,” said Lara Morgan, London-based founder of Scentered. “I’m confident that Sherry will build on the solid foundation the company created over the past four years, from concept to launch, and position Scentered as a dominant force in the fast-growing $3.7B global health and wellness category.”
