The Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers and Distributors (ICMAD) Association revealed the winners of the 2019 Young Designers Awards Competition. Dineh Mohajer and Jeanne Chavez, founders of Hard Candy and Smith & Cult, presented the awards. ICMAD also had other commendations, as reported in Happi.
Winners for the 2019 event were selected from among more than 400 college-level students studying graphic and package design from 23 schools. The annual competition, first established in 1999, recognizes the best design students through their creativity and ingenuity in designing an original cosmetic package.
A panel of judges, selected for their expertise in packaging, design, and marketing, selected finalists and winners. This year’s judges were Priscilla Ober, Executive Creative Director, Mary Kay, Inc., Iwona Waluk, Senior Art Director, Global Packaging and Brand, Mary Kay, Inc., Anthony Le Minoux, Managing Director, Quadpack America and Chris James, Vice President, East Hill Industries.
And, the 2019 Young Designers Competition winners are:
Grand Prize Winner: Kat Brint, Oregon State University, Corvallis, OR
Second Place Winner: Kristine Ragasa, American Academy of Art, Chicago, IL
Third Place Winner: Chris Kalafatis, Laguna College of Art + Design, Laguna Beach, CA

Tamara King, Colorado Mesa University, Grand Junction, CO
Brian Fenstermacher, Pennsylvania College of Art & Design, Lancaster, PA
