In 2021, the Professional Beauty Association (PBA), a national trade organization representing manufacturers, distributors, salon and spa business owners, and licensed beauty professionals, is honoring the National Cosmetology Association’s (NCA) 100th anniversary. Now under the auspices of PBA, the NCA was founded in 1921 as the National Hairdressers and Cosmetologists Association (NHCA).
To commemorate this milestone, PBA has planned a year-long celebration that will highlight the history, people, and activities that have made the association so successful. The celebration kicks off with a virtual happy hour scheduled for Monday, February 22 at 4pm PST/7pm EST to be streamed live on Facebook.
The Facebook live happy hour will begin with a welcome message from PBA executive director Steve Sleeper followed by a brief history of the organization from former NCA president Mark Goodman. The event will conclude with a message from PBA board member and NCA chairperson Peggy Sue Schmoldt.
“We are so excited to bring everyone together to toast this momentous occasion,” shared PBA board member Beth Hickey. “For 100 years, the NCA has inspired unparalleled artistry and creativity and fostered camaraderie and friendship. While we wish we could be together in person, we are thrilled to kick off the year with a virtual happy hour to celebrate the incredible impact the NCA has had on the beauty industry.”
Following the February 22 virtual happy hour, the NCA 100-year anniversary celebration will continue with digital and social promotions showcasing the legacy the organization has created.
