SC Johnson has rolled out special-edition Scrubbing Bubbles bottles made from recycled plastic, including plastic from cups and clear bottles recycled by fans at Fiserv Forum and Deer District. The Citrus Scent Bathroom Cleaner Spray Bottles are available at 12 Wisconsin Meijer stores in Appleton, Grafton, Green Bay, Greenfield, Kenosha, Manitowoc, Oak Creek, Pewaukee, Sheboygan, Waukesha, Wauwatosa and West Bend through the end of January 2024.
Made of 100% recycled plastic overall, up to 25% of the recycled plastic used in each special-edition Scrubbing Bubbles bottle comes from recycled plastic cups used at both Milwaukee Brewers and Milwaukee Bucks games.
SC Johnson has linked then Bucks plastic waste stream to a specific company product, creating a closed-loop recycling approach. Since 2021, basketball fans have stepped up recycling their SC Johnson-branded plastic cups and clear bottles into specially marked receptacles throughout Fiserv Forum and Deer District. Through the Bucks recycling program, the Bucks and SC Johnson upcycled more than 20 tons of clear plastic bottles and cups in the 2022/2023 season, making it the second year in a row the Bucks have captured 100% of plastic for upcycling.
“Plastic waste pollution is a big problem facing our communities,” said Matt Pazaras, chief business development and strategy officer for the Milwaukee Bucks. “That’s why, alongside SC Johnson, we have committed to preventing plastic waste from ending up in landfills and our waterways. SC Johnson is our trusted open-source partner, who co-developed the PET cups we use at Fiserv Forum and in Deer District. These cups are 100% recycled and turned into Scrubbing Bubbles Bottles. In our partnership with SC Johnson, we are committed to closing the loop on plastic waste and continuing to ensure we have a cleaner and more sustainable environment.”
SC Johnson has a similar partnership with Liverpool Football Club (LFC). The LFC partnership includes types of plastic, such as extruded cups and green plastic that isn’t commonly recycled.
