Bevel made a donation to Clark Atlanta University (CAU) that paved the way for a remodel of the men’s basketball team facility.
The men’s grooming brand, CAU Coach Alfred Jordan and university administration teamed up to transform the locker room into a state-of-the-art lounge space, Bevel barbershop and a coaches’ corner, providing head-to-toe grooming and personal care for the university’s student-athletes.
Bevel’s donation is part of the brand’s on-going, on-the-ground community programs focused on ensuring that the emotional, mental, and grooming needs of Black men are prioritized. These efforts have included providing a limited-number of barber college scholarships to young barbering students, promoting mental health & wellness initiatives, supporting anti-recidivism initiatives and more.
“The opportunity to help Coach Jordan give his players at CAU a top tier locker room and player-exclusive barbershop was something we just couldn't pass up. As an Atlanta-native myself, I know how important Clark-Atlanta is to the city. I also know well the disparity that can exist between HBCUs and Power 5 programs, like Georgia or Alabama as examples, and was excited to help close that gap by bringing to fruition a space at the caliber of something you'd see within a professional program. Seeing the CAU student-athletes, coaches, and administration's excitement and gratitude for this new space was amazing, they deserve all of this,” shared Breann Davis, senior director, marketing at Walker & Company Brands, owner of Bevel.
The renovation was featured on HGTV's hit series “Married to Real Estate,” on February 15. The episode is available to stream on Max.
Bevel, based in Atlanta, was founded in 2013.
The renovated space at CAU will stocked with Bevel products for Barbers to use as they cut the student-athlete's hair.
“I am very appreciative for the safe space that was created for our student athletes to focus on academics and prepare for game day. Additionally, I am also very thankful for the national exposure this partnership has brought to our entire athletic department,” added Coach Jordan.
