It was bound to happen sooner or later. With demand for natural and anti-aging products surging, it was only a matter of time before these worlds collided. This spring, two new skin care lines, both boasting natural and anti-aging ingredients, make their debut. First up is Kiehl’s Superbly Restorative Skin Salve, which bows this month. In May, Aveda enters the anti-aging segment with the introduction of Green Science facial skin care products. Interestingly enough, both products contain argan oil, obtained from the fruit of the argan tree which is found in Morocco. The oil is rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, linoleic aicd and vitamin E. It has been used in food production for years and is now finding favor with cosmetics companies. Furthermore, it has proven to be an effective treatment for psoriasis.
These introductions underscore the tremendous interest in natural and active materials in the personal care and household care markets. Both subjects have been widely covered in Happi for decades, but we’ll expand our coverage of these topics in the months to come, as consumers continue to clamor for natural, but effective products.
