Being a great coach means more than knowing Xs and Os. Dove Men+Care deodorant brand and the College Football Hall of Fame are recognizing four youth and high school football coaches who most strongly embody the characteristics of passion, respect, determination, encouragement and support with their “Caring Coach of the Year” award.
The program—now in its second year—has named Larry Gilmer, head football coach of Russellville Middle School in Russellville, AL; Sam Simpson, head football coach of Henry Clay High School in Lexington, KY; Brent Widdows, head football coach of Sterling Heights High School in Sterling Heights, MI; and Joey DiPiazza, head football coach of Albany High School in Albany, NY, as its 2015 honorees.
The Unilever brand sought written nominations from across the country and selected the four deserving coaches based on the award’s published criteria. The honorees and their nominators were honored at a ceremony at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, GA.
