After the Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR) recently revealed its intention to increase tariffs from 10 to 25% on additional imported products from China beginning May 10, 2019, the Personal Care Products Council (PCPC) and its member companies remain strongly opposed to the move and any other policies that result in increased tariffs on cosmetics and personal care products.
According to Francine Lamoriello, executive vice president, global strategies at PCPC, “Free trade and open markets help US companies compete globally by providing innovative products to consumers around the world. These actions against China not only undermine the long-term competitiveness of our industry but directly impact US consumers as well.”
Lamoriello, in his statement, urged the Administration to “resolve outstanding trade issues through ongoing dialogue with the Chinese Government and to dismantle increased tariffs.”
