Experts from the Schwarzkopf Professional artistic team have put together their 2024 hair color trend recap and 2025 trend forecast.

Read on to gain insights from curly and textured hair expert Brendnetta Ashley, who created Venus Williams’ “Blonde Bombshell” hair color this year, and color and placement expert Carly Zanoni, who created Olympic gold medalists Aly Raisman’s natural lived-in blonde hair.

Zanoni said 2024 was the year that warmth made its return with a major shift towards warmer blondes, more brondes and bronze tones and reds. There was also a raw blonde moment where buttery, natural lift was embraced.

Looking toward 2025, with Pantone’s announcement of mocha mousse as color of the year, she predicts a shift towards more muted, natural-looking blends. “I think people will be leaning heavily into really soft and subtle dimension with an infusion of some cooler tones back into blondes and brunettes,” she said.

Ashley says 2024 was about bringing warmth back into hair.

“Some of my favorite hair color trends were Carmel balayage. It includes a deeper base with golden tones and warm blonde. This is a good color concept that can be worn by many and it looks great on both straight and curly hair,” she said.

For 2025, she predicts the return of ombré will be a top color trend.

“It’s a lower maintenance color service with the roots remaining darker. To make it current, I think it will have more of a blend instead of a hard line of demarcation,” she said.
