Happi: Can you give me some background on Cosmopak?
Wolfe: Founded over 20 years ago, Cosmopak began as a cosmetic component supplier focusing on a tight range of highly innovative items. For over two decades, we have built a sophisticated supply chain and set of services to provide a full suite of packaging and turnkey solutions. Our knowledgeable team can either manage the entire supply chain via turnkey solutions or provide specific packaging manufacturing solutions. With offices in New York, Los Angeles, Shanghai and Peru, our team and global network of trusted suppliers provide reliable and agile product development and packaging support.
Happi: What is Cosmopak's specialty?
Wolfe: Cosmopak excels in efficient cosmetic development solutions for high-growth cosmetic brands. We deliver tailored development and manufacturing support based on our client’s needs. With an extensive network of trusted vendors and in-house resources, Cosmopak develops and manufactures beauty packaging and turnkey products. Our turnkey approach ensures the delivery of top-tier products within designated budgets and timelines. Our commitment to excellence propels us to go above and beyond, consistently providing exceptional results that meet and exceed expectations.
Happi: What makes Cosmopak stand out from other suppliers as far as your services go?
Wolfe: We stay up to date on the latest innovations and meticulously develop on-trend annual turnkey and packaging collections that serve as imaginative starting points for brands seeking speed to market. We collaborate with brands and operate from a comprehensive brief that streamlines the development process. After a productive dialogue, our team presents a selection of creative solutions adhering to compatibility, budget and timeline. By partnering with Cosmopak, brands reduce unforeseen timely and costly complications. We also provide in-house design and engineering solutions that allow brands to develop unique products that their consumers will love.
Happi: How has your company evolved over the last few years?
Wolfe: Throughout recent years, our efforts have been dedicated to refining our turnkey process, enabling us to confidently extend premium, swift-to-market development solutions across color cosmetics, skincare and body care categories. For those in search of inspiration or expedited solutions, our annual turnkey and packaging collections serve as an excellent starting point.
If these offerings resonate with brands, they are presented with the flexibility to either adopt the formula and packaging as-is or tailor it to impeccably align with their unique brand identity. It's essential to note that everything we produce is entirely bespoke, ensuring limitless options and avenues for differentiation. We’ve more recently developed our Cosmopak Ecoforward framework to help push sustainable conversations to the forefront. We encourage clients to explore eco-friendlier solutions in terms of material type, sustainable objectives and offsets.
Happi: Can you give me an example of a recent innovation?
Wolfe: Since 2018, Cosmopak has taken pride in its pioneering investments in sustainable advancements. Our journey began with early commitments to PCR, bioresin, biodegradable and compostable packaging, refillable designs and mono material solutions. Our most recent ecoforward breakthrough involves an enhancement to our renewable compostable paper pulp compact. We recently launched a stackable variant, which has garnered recognition as a finalist in the 2023 Makeup in New York IT Awards.
While paper pulp isn't unique in itself, utilizing it as a primary component represents a relatively fresh approach. Our paper pulp compact is crafted from renewable sugarcane byproducts and certified paper fibers. Furthermore, its production process incorporates reused water, reinforcing our dedication to sustainability. This innovation offers a novel avenue for brands aiming to reduce plastic usage or incorporate low-waste packaging strategies. It also underscores our commitment to reimagining materials in innovative ways.
Furthermore, we're excited to introduce our "rooted in beauty" packaging collection, which showcases an array of ecoforward options regarding sustainable materials and objectives. This collection embodies our ongoing commitment to fostering environmentally conscious solutions.
Happi: What’s next for the company? What are your views on sustainability?
Wolfe: We are continuing to research and stay up to date on sustainable developments to continuously enrich our ecoforward solutions to present to clients. To create tangible and immediate positive impacts, we recently established a partnership with Plastic Bank. Through this collaboration, we enable our clients to contribute to plastic offsets – a program designed to finance the removal of ocean-bound plastic from vulnerable coastlines in selected countries. This initiative not only aids in cleaning our planet but also empowers marginalized communities by providing employment opportunities and support.
As we journey forward, we eagerly anticipate continuing our investment in sustainable developments and driving ongoing innovation. Our mission remains resolute: to lead by example and facilitate meaningful change through our ecoforward approach.
