The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) recently revealed its intention to increase tariffs from 10 to 25 percent on additional imported products from China beginning Friday, May 10, 2019. The Personal Care Products Council (PCPC) and its member companies remain strongly opposed to this and any other policies that result in increased tariffs on cosmetics and personal care products.
According to Francine Lamoriello, EVP, global strategies, Personal Care Products Council, “Free trade and open markets help US companies compete globally by providing innovative products to consumers around the world. These actions against China not only undermine the long-term competitiveness of our industry but directly impact U.S. consumers as well.
“We urge the Administration to resolve outstanding trade issues through ongoing dialogue with the Chinese Government and to dismantle increased tariffs.”
Based in Washington, D.C., PCPC is a national trade association representing global cosmetics and personal care products companies. Founded in 1894, PCPC’s approximately 600 member companies manufacture, distribute and supply the vast majority of finished personal care products marketed in the US.
