There's been plenty of news coverage of "Sephora Kids" running amok in the LVMH-owned cosmetics stores.
Here's another take on the phenomenon—from one of their peers.
To the Editor:
As much of an influence that TikTok is on younger generations (which is why all social media platforms have a 13+ age requirement or, for Florida, 16+), I think it's a lot more than that. The foundation of it, from what I've seen, are the parents of the children, particularly the mothers.
They allow their kids to be on apps like TikTok and Instagram so they can make money, but also these moms lack the ability to say no to their kids. I've seen some videos where mothers are taking their 6-10 year olds to Sephora and referring to them as their "mini besties," which is not a role that a mother should have in a child's life. But yes, it's becoming a widespread issue, and the problem is that they're letting their daughters ruin their skin.
