As a nutrition industry leader, Herbalife Nutrition is offering positive solutions to issues affecting all corners of the world, including high obesity rates and lack of nutrition resources, and an increased interest in entrepreneurship by people of all ages. Less than 3% of Herbalife Nutrition’s annual sales come from external personal care products; the company’s focus is on balanced nutrition and hydration.
In 2020, the wellness company celebrated its 40-year anniversary and John Agwunobi, chief executive officer and chairman of the board, took the helm of company on March 30, during what may have been the toughest time for both the public and consumer packaged goods companies. In his first year, his leadership and passion have drawn praise from customers, distributors, employees, and investors for his leadership in crisis, resulting in the company’s best sales year, recording full year 2020 net sales of $5.5 billion.
In other personnel moves, this spring the company appointed its new chief operating officer—industry veteran Mark Schissel—to replace David Pezzullo, who has announced his planned retirement, after working at the company for more than 17 years. The appointment of Schissel, who served as executive vice president of worldwide operations, is part of the company’s existing succession plan.
Through its corporate social responsibility efforts, Herbalife Nutrition supports the Herbalife Nutrition Foundation (HNF) and its Casa Herbalife programs to help end world hunger by bringing good nutrition and nutrition education to those in need. Herbalife Nutrition is also proud to sponsor more than 190 world-class athletes, teams and events around the globe, including Cristiano Ronaldo, the LA Galaxy, and numerous Olympic teams.
Herbalife Nutrition says its scientific staff numbers more than 300, including 50 PhD.s, who develop products that include nutrition, weight-management, energy and fitness and personal care products available exclusively to and through its independent distributors in 95 countries.
In 2020, the company introduced more than 400 new products. They range from vitamins and supplements to beverages like Relaxation Tea. But the biggest buzz so far is the new hemp skin products Enrichual Hemp Relief Balm and Hemp Facial Serum.
“The cannabinoid market is a new space for us and we’re excited that Enrichual inspires consumers to practice self-care and nurture their body and mind,” said Ibi Montesino, senior vice president and managing director of North America, Herbalife Nutrition.
Environmental stressors can cause your skin to look aged and dry and can contribute to the appearance of fine lines. Enrichual enables consumers to treat themselves to a calming and skin-rejuvenating experience. The ingredients in the products work to moisturize the skin. The products do not contain added parabens or sulfates, and formulations have been dermatologist-tested for safety.
Also new from Herbalife is Herbalife Skin LycoGlow. The once-daily softgel helps give skin a natural glow and supports skin's texture and appearance for a smoother and more radiant look. Formulated with Lycored Nutrient Complex For Skin (tomato fruit extract), its plant-based ingredients help nourish the skin with nutrients and antioxidants and is designed to complement a holistic skincare routine. Herbalife Skin LycoGlow provides the benefits of about four servings of tomatoes, according to the company. The product combines lycopene, phytoene and phytofluene, found naturally in tomatoes, along with carnosic acid from rosemary extract to balance the skin’s response to sun exposure and environmental stresses.
