NMI To Expand LOHAS Database in 2010
Natural Marketing Institute (NMI) is expanding its LOHAS (Lifestyles Of Health And Sustainability) Consumer Trends Database (LCTD) to provide clients with global insight and strategy. NMI pioneered the study of the LOHAS marketplace in 2002 with the advent of the U.S. LCTD, which now contains eight years of trended data.Because sustainability is truly a global issue that necessitates a coordinated global response and to further enhance its LOHAS insights to clients, NMI said it has designed a more comprehensive global research project aimed at providing deep insight into consumer and cultural attitudes and behaviors.
The research, slated to begin in January 2010, will consist of market primers (an overview of country-specific sustainability activities); ethnographic research (sessions with consumers to explore how they live, and if/when/how they are healthy and sustainable); quantitative research; and cultural exchange (a week-long trip to immerse clients into a culture and meet leaders of key local organizations engaged in sustainability).
Eighteen countries will be covered in the expanded report, including Mexico, Canada, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland, Russia, United Kingdom, China, India, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Australia, South Africa and the U.S. Data will be available on a rolling basis as the project progresses, according to NMI.
