Tiger Woods is being cut from Gillette team as P&G has decided not to renew the golfer’s endorsement deal when it ends on Dec. 31.
The decision is not a surprise, as the brand “limited” Woods' role as a spokesperson last December when his personal problems made headlines.
Gillette is also phasing out the "Gillette Champions" marketing program in the first quarter of 2011.
Mike Norton, a brand spokesperson with P&G, told Happi.com that the program will conclude in the first quarter of 2011 as the brand's most global, most successful sports marketing initiative. Since 2007, the 38 Champions representing seven different sports have reached billions of consumers in more than 180 countries, helping to solidify Gillette as the world leading Grooming brand.
