The revolutionary health and beauty product Voluma was successfully vetted and approved today by the federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
After several years on the market in Europe and Canada, the injectable facial treatment arrives amid great fanfare. Drs. Marc Cohen and Nancy Swartz, Philadelphia’s premier cosmetic surgeons, have the inside track on Voluma and will be one of the first offices to offer it to their patients.
“This is a remarkably easy, safe procedure that produces natural round contours and high cheekbones,” Cohen said. “Voluma is the first filler designed to lift the face and restore the smooth features of youth.”
Small, momentary injections are made to key locations on the face, and there is little to no recovery time. Results are seen almost immediately, although bruising can occur.
The process of aging can lead to a reduction in facial fat, a crucial component to looking young. Like the best fillers already on the market—Juvederm and Restylane—Voluma is made of hyaluronic acid. However, Voluma can last up to two years after treatment.
“Our firsthand experience has been working with Canadian doctors,” Swartz said. “Respected industry leaders across the border have been using the product for five years and can attest to the hype.”
