One of the most influential fashion designers, Oscar de la Renta, died on Oct. 20 at age 82. His famed fragrance collection is still popular today. De la Renta launched his first perfume, Oscar, in 1977. A fragrance for men and a line expansion currently followed.
Born July 22, 1932 in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, the designer made a name for himself in the 1960s when he dressed Jacqueline Kennedy. He launched his ready-to-wear label in 1965 in New York. He recently dressed George Clooney’s bride, Amal.
In addition to his wife, Annette, de la Renta is survived by three stepchildren, three sisters and nine grandchildren.
