Spectrum Brands Holdings, Inc. reported record performance for fiscal 2014 ended Sept. 30, 2014 with results that met or exceeded financial targets. Net sales increased 8.4% to $4.43 billion. The Home and Garden segment achieved favorable fiscal 2014 results, as net sales grew 10.6% to $431.9 million.
The Home and Garden segment (featuring household products like Black Flag, Cutter, Hot Shot and more) reported record fourth quarter net sales of $109.0 million—an increase of 7.5%, according to the company. The improvement was due primarily to higher net sales in the outdoor repellents category and, to a lesser degree, the positive impact of the Liquid Fence animal repellents acquisition completed on Jan. 2, 2014. Also contributing to the improvement was higher lawn and garden controls category sales driven by the extended selling season.
Net sales for the global personal care product category rose 2.0% to $129.4 million in the fourth quarter. North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific regions posted improvements.
Spectrum Brands expects fiscal 2015 net sales, as reported, to increase in the low to mid-single digit range compared to fiscal 2014 net sales of $4.43 billion, including the positive impact of the acquisition of Tell Manufacturing on Oct. 1, 2014.
