Several new patents related to cleaning, disinfection and fabric care were awarded by the US Patent & Trademark Office this week. Clorox and Procter & Gamble and were among this week’s recipients. This week’s newly patented formulations span from cleaning spray to anhydrous dish soap to scent additives to laundry detergent in sheet format.
(wherein R1 is a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated alkyl chain comprising from 8 to 18 carbon atoms; and R2 is an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms)
The anionic surfactant and alkyl glucamide surfactant are present at a weight ratio of greater than about 1:1.
The cleaning composition has a Newtonian viscosity of from 1 to 50 mPa·s.
The bio-based polymer matrix is configured to bind and suspend the detergent components when the bio-based polymer matrix is in solid sheet form and to release the detergent components when the bio-based polymer matrix contacts a sufficient volume of water. This laundry detergent sheet contains no detectable amount of polyvinyl alcohol.
Acidic Cleaning & Disinfecting Composition
US Patent No. 11,753,603 B2 (Nancy A. Falk, David R. Scheuing, Heather L. Day, Szu-Ying Chen, Bryan K. Parrish, Fanny Frausto, Eric G. Gharakhanian, William King); The Clorox Company has patented a concentrated acidic cleaning composition comprising citric acid; alkyl sulfate surfactant; an alkyl polyglucoside surfactant; one or more organic solvents selected from the group consisting of C1-18 alkanols, C1-18 diols, C3-24 alkylene glycol ethers, polyalkylene glycols, short chain carboxylic acids, short chain esters, and any mixture or combinations thereof; methanesulfonic acid; water; and optionally, one or more adjuvants selected from the group consisting of fragrances or perfumes, waxes, dyes, colorants, solubilizing materials, stabilizers, thickeners, defoamers, hydrotropes, buffers, builders, lotions, mineral oils, cloud point modifiers, polymers, preservatives and any combinations or mixtures thereof. The composition requires a 1:10 to 1:50 dilution with water prior to use. The pH of the diluted composition is less than 7.Cleaner in a Sprayer Dispenser
US Patent No. 11,753,604 B2 (Jean-Luc Philippe Bettiol, Roxane Rosmaninho); The Procter & Gamble Company was awarded a US patet for a cleaning product housed in a spray dispenser. The cleaning composition is comprised of a surfactant system that contains an anionic surfactant; an alkyl glucamide surfactant, wherein the alkyl glucamide surfactant has a formula (as shown below):(wherein R1 is a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated alkyl chain comprising from 8 to 18 carbon atoms; and R2 is an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms)
The anionic surfactant and alkyl glucamide surfactant are present at a weight ratio of greater than about 1:1.
The cleaning composition has a Newtonian viscosity of from 1 to 50 mPa·s.
Laundry Scent Additive
US Patent No. 11,753,606 B2 (Yousef Georges Aouad); The Procter & Gamble Company also patented a composition comprising a plurality of pastilles. The pastilles are comprised of polyethylene glycol; and free perfume. Each pastille has a mass from about 0.95 mg to about 2 g; The pastilles— which hemispherical and compressed hemispherical— are contained in a package and there is a dispensing cap that is detachable and reattachable.Stable Anhydrous Dish Soap
US Patent No. 11,753,607 B2 (Syed Humza Naqvi); One Home Brands, Inc. (d/b/a/ Blueland), New York, has patented a stable anhydrous dish soap formulation in a solid form. It is comprised of a surfactant, sorbitan caprylate and a filler. The formulation comprises more than 40% by weight of solids and is substantially fatty acid free.Water-Solyble Unit Dose with Perfume
US Patent No. 11,753,608 B2 (Mark Robert Sivik, Theresa Anne Buehler, Frank William Denome); The Procter & Gamble Company has patented a process for manufacturing a water-soluble unit dose article. It entails providing a water soluble fibrous first ply; providing a water soluble fibrous second ply, formed on a surface other than the first ply and wherein the second ply is separate from the first ply; providing an encapsulated perfume composition with a shear viscosity of about 1 Pa-s to about 25 Pa-s when measured at 10 s−1 at 20°C.; and placing the encapsulated perfume composition on one or both plies; superposing the first ply and the second ply so that said encapsulated perfume composition is between them; and joining a first portion of the first ply to a second portion of the second ply to form the unit dose article.Polyvinyl Alcohol-Free Laundry Sheet
US Patent No. 11,753,609 B1 (Jenna A. Arkin, Ryan K. Hood, Trung T. Phan); Venus Laboratories, Inc., Cypress, CA, patented a laundry detergent sheet that contains a bio-based polymer matrix configured in the form of a water-soluble sheet; detergent components including a surfactant system comprised of a neutrally charged surfactant and a anionic surfactant (with the neutrally charged surfactant and anionic surfactant each comprising non-petroleum derived carbons) and a water-soluble, shear-stabilizing polymer comprising poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline), said poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline) incorporated in the bio-based polymer matrix.
