The winners of the In-Cosmetics Innovation Zone Best Ingredient Awards and the new Green Ingredient Award were announced in Hamburg, Germany. Gattefossé earned the Gold in this year’s Innovation Zone Awards, for the Emulium Mellifera, a new generation of PEG-free emulsifier that auto-adapts to skin type and climate, creating emulsions that are white and luxurious in appearance.
“We are naturally delighted to have won this prestigious award. A huge amount of research has gone into developing Emulium Mellifera and we believe that it has the potential to revolutionize the skin care industry in the future. It is a truly unique product and we look forward to introducing it to the industry over the next few days” said Paula Lennon, marketing and innovation director at Gattefossé.
Also celebrating was Alban Muller, International, which took home the top honor in the new Green Ingredient Award (in association with Organic Monitor) for its Scurvy Grass Extract, a 100% natural extract of the Scurvy Grass plant, which is rich in vitamin C.
Silver and Bronze Awards in Innovations were presented to Induchem (Silver) for Redensyl, a new hair growth galvanizer which targets the hair follicles; and Lipotec (Bronze) for Argirelox peptide, which is directed at reducing expression lines by modulating muscle contraction.
The Silver and Bronze winners in the Green Ingredient Award were Minasolve (Silver) with MinaCare Pentiol Green+, a new and unique version of pentylene glycol produced from renewable vegetal raw materials, and Akott (Bronze) for Akosky Apium, a water-soluble celery cell culture extract which in vitro is very efficient in stimulating pro-collagen I and III, and fibronectin.
During the ceremony, Ashland, Croda and KPT were announced as winners of the Beiersdorf Innovation Pitch (see page 24 for details), while the Cosmetics & Toiletries magazine R&D Best New Award went to Silab.
