Los Angeles-based celebrity hairstylist Laurie Heaps—who has styled the likes of Sabrina Carpenter, Rowan Blanchard and Danielle Fishel, to name a few boldface names—is sharing her predictions for the top three hair trends to try in 2018. She is best known for her cream soda hair color expertise, as reported in In Style.
1. Blunt 90's Bob
This cut has an undeniably 90’s feel to it and clears the shoulders - chic but still effortless. This cut looks great when you want to straighten it or even air dry it naturally for modern day texture.
The basic foundation is a one length bob, no layering. This type of cut makes your hair look not only thicker but healthier! Ask your stylist to just take their shears and notch into the ends to cause a disconnect. To finish, I recommend using a razor to slightly soften the disconnection.
2.80's Rocker Waves
Can curls ever go out of style? I love how this classic is always evolving. Now, 2018 is bringing a throwback to texture with 80’s rocker waves being the new “it” curl pattern to copy.
For a tighter wave like this, reach for BioSilk’s Titanium 3/4" Spring Curling Iron. This smaller barrel brings the wave to present day, no perms needed! Since it is made of titanium, curls will pop with shine. To style, spray a heat protectant like White Sands Liquid Texture Medium Styling Spray from roots to tips and brush through. This heat guard and setting spray will lock polished curls in until your next shampoo. But, hair still moves beautifully and is soft to the touch.
3. The Wet Look
The “wet” look continues to dominate the runways, making this a style to try in the new year. This hairstyle combines a slight wave while slicking back all hair framing the face. Set your hair in large braids overnight or encourage any natural waves by using curl enhancing creams or mousses.
To complete, evenly distribute a shine enhancing styling gel like White Sands Gel-Us to the front using a comb to push hair back and produce this ‘wet’ appearance. You can go bold or subtle with the “slick” look depending on how much product you use.
