What's old is new again! In 2012, Diptyque invented a home fragrance device called the Hourglass Diffuser, also known as Le Sablier in the French language. Now, driven by a new creative impetus, the brand is reinventing this object with an optimized fragrance cold diffusion technology and a new design of geometric forms and colors. It is available in six scents and retails for $175. Refills retail for $60.
The cold diffusion process uses the natural principles of capillarity and evaporation. The fragrance is not heated but gradually releases, thus allowing the entire range of notes, including the most volatile notes which are particularly vulnerable to heat, to be easily identifiable. The diffuser will scent an entire room in 10 minutes and lasts for up to three months if turned twice a day, said the company.
