Amorepacific's premium skin care brand Laneige recently hosted a global science symposium, “Sleeping Beauty: Skin Microbiome and the New Generation of Sleeping Beauty.” The webinar— held through the brand’s Beauty & Life Lab on July 5—brought together experts from the Amorepacific Research Center and academia who presented findings on sleep, circadian rhythm, skin health, and skin microbiome.
In the symposium, sessions covered topics such as wearables for personalized chronotherapy based on circadian rhythms from Prof. Jae Kyoung Kim of KAIST, Department of Mathematical Sciences IBS, Biomedical Mathematics Group; a discussion of the skin microbiome from Prof. Wilhelm Holzapfel of the International Committee on Food Microbiology and Hygiene; and Kilsun Myoung, chief researcher at Amorepacific R&D, who discussed “Sleeping Microbiome, New Technology of Sleeping Beauty.”
Laneige’s foray into “sleeping beauty” came in 2002 with the launch of its Water Sleeping Mask. The brand has continuously incorporated new elements through its progressing research on the correlation of sleep and skin health.
The latest launch is Water Sleeping Mask EX, which features proprietary Sleeping Microbiome technology. It also contains Probiotic Complex, a 23.8 billion probiotic-derived ingredient that makes the skin barrier stronger and restores healthy skin balance during sleep, according to Laneige.
Amorepacific become the first Korean beauty company to join the global RE100 initiative with a goal to source 100% renewable energy to power all of its production sites and offices, including R&D and production centers, by the year 2030.
