Joseph Peter Pavlichko, 68, died on March 28, 2019. He was a long-time executive in the beauty industry, retiring as vice president of marketing, Croda Inc.
"Joe Pavlichko was known to many in our industry - and rightfully so. It was my great fortune to know Joe for over 30 years, first as a respected competitor at Amerchol, then as a colleague at Croda," said former Croda Inc President Kevin Gallagher. "Joe was a wonderful person who had good things to say about everyone. We who worked with him, knew him as one of the truly nicest people we knew.”
Pavlichko was born in Jersey City, N.J. on Nov. 7, 1950, graduated from Dickinson High School, and Jersey City State College, and took graduate school classes at Rutgers University. On May 27, 1972, Joseph married his high school sweetheart, Deborah Patello. They moved to South River, NJ, then Helmetta, and had two children, Michael and Matthew.
Pavlichko worked for 30 years as a chemist at Amerchol in Edison, NJ, then was vice president of marketing for Croda, Inc., also in Edison, before retiring in 2014. Highly respected in his field, he has served as president of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists and the International Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists.
"Joe made many contributions to our industry, not only through his work in introducing new ingredients, but also by serving selflessly on behalf of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists (SCC) and the International Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists (IFSCC),” explained Gallagher. "We know he loved his family, but we also know that he loved our industry. We're grateful that we knew him and worked in the same industry."
